DOUBT. Lies are a recurring motif in the Riddler’s scheme for Batman and the Gotham City Police Department. Log in or sign up to leave a comment log in sign up. Mae Abdulbaki. You'll notice he's wearing a mask with glasses on top of it. What havoc will Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler wreak on Gotham? “How am I a part of this?” asks Batman, to which the voice replies “You’ll see.”. Just to drive the point home, Edward Nashton writes "no more lies" across the tape covering his victim's face. Our first shot of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman is brief. We then see flashes of Batman scuffling with a crowd of GCPD officers, the Batmobile roar to life during a chase scene with Penguin and the Caped Crusader shake off a point-blank shot to the chest. Whatever the case, this more sinister take on the Riddler could prove to be the most interesting yet. Watch the trailer here. Next come several rapid shots in quick succession: police, Batman in a cage, guns, darkness, and a fight between Batman and Catwoman. A villain — a large man wearing all-black clothes and a matching mask — is duct-taping a businessman’s face. That alone could have transformed him into this twisted version of the Riddler. Perhaps the Riddler is leaving these clues for Batman to uncover a conspiracy that involves the cityâs corrupt justice system and the people who benefit from it. The idea that the two characters might be a reflection of each other is an interesting one and the Riddler's ways of handling things might influence Batman to change his own violent tactics (he beats someone unconscious in the trailer). Next, we see a shot of Batman in full costume at the crime scene with the police. The commenter adds that, while Bruce still grew up loved and taken care of, the Riddler had a more troubled and abusive childhood. Many fans speculate this is Paul Dano’s Riddler, who leaves behind a grisly clue for Batman. Heading To Class? share. Conversely, it's possible that the justice system itself is corrupt (which is highly likely) and Riddler wants Batman to do something about it. It seems they’re going for the classic Batman, and with the success of the current trend of nostalgia cash-ins (looking at you, Disney live action remakes) this film could do very well. The trailer shows a brief glimpse at the crime lord Penguin, played by an unrecognizable Colin Farrell. Riddler’s victim is a man whose face is covered in duct tape with the words “No more lies” scrawled in red ink. Let’s play a game, just me and you,” the card reads, with some mysterious symbols at the bottom. Director Matt Reeves attended the virtual 24-hour event on Saturday, August 22 to discuss his highly-anticipated take on the Dark Knight. It appears that someone did not listen when literally everyone said to drop the “the.” Who would write “to THE Batman?” Is there more than one? The first trailer for Robert Pattinson’s take on Batman released on Saturday during the DC FanDome, giving fans their first looks at the Caped Crusader, Catwoman, the Riddler, Commissioner Gordon and director Matt Reeves’ Gotham City. Checking the comics, I managed to come up with a connection to the DC Comics character The Batman Who Laughs, as Batman/Superman #6 is titled "No More Lies" that was actually released just two days ago.. The final moment sees Bruce take off his cowl in the Batcave as a mysterious voice says “You’re a part of this, too.” It doesn’t sound like Alfred’s accent from earlier, leaving many to wonder if it could be Riddler. He stands in the rain outside the Gotham Sanitation depot, perhaps a hideout for his goons. A new Batman logo — in red instead of yellow! Fans speculated this mystery person was Gotham's mayor, which is why a press conference was held later on. “No more lies” is written over the duct tape on the businessman’s face. The character’s new look leaves behind the Riddler’s iconic cane and question mark-covered suit, but falls in line with the gritty, grounded tone of the trailer. The trailer opens with the eerie sound of duct tape ripping then offers a brief glimpse at a masked man in a green overcoat. With that in mind comes a theory that may explain the motives driving this new iteration of the classic villain. Perhaps he believes the Dark Knight is the only one who can catch those the justice system does not. The Batman Leaked "No More Lies" pic is legit: WB took down pics from Twitter via copyright. Want to keep up with breaking news? “The Batman” is finally out of the shadows. Next, we finally get a look at Batman suited up, appearing to work willingly with Gordon and the GCPD. However, that might change later in the trailer. We cut to a gentleman wearing skull makeup asking “Who’re you supposed to be?” With the return of the classic Batman voice effect, Batman replies: “I’m vengeance.” Wow, the character of Batman has never before been associated with vengeance! DOUBT. The first shot of the trailer shows a man in disguise duct-taping another man's face with the words "NO MORE LIES" written across the tape. no more lies Photo: YouTube/Warner Bros. Pictures Is this a Gotham City political assassination, or was this written on the girls’ bathroom door … Could Riddler have discovered Batman’s real identity? The Riddler may be leading Batman straight to the Court of Owls, a mysterious criminal organization rumored to appear in the film. Well, as if that was not already enough Batman-related action, an image has now leaked that is allegedly from the movie and shows a victim of one of Batman's most notorious villains, The Riddler. Bruce is in the crowd, diving to save someone from the car’s path. For viewers lacking in knowledge of cars (yes, we exist), there is a possibly impressive shot of the Batmobile. Detective Gordon then holds up a card with “To the Batman” written in childish handwriting. The trailer begins with an ominous ripping noise. Like Riddler’s outfit, the iconic villain’s costume is a simple black mask and bodysuit. Lies and lying seem to be an important theme, too, as we see one of Riddler's victims strapped in duct tape with 'No More Lies' written on it. The next scene shows Riddler strike again, this time sending a car with a duct-taped victim through what appears to be a funeral. Reeves explained that the movie takes place in “Year two” of Batman’s career, in which he’s still starting out and his rogues gallery haven’t become full-fledged supervillains yet. The Riddler is seen killing the city's mayor and scrawling "lies" across the wall, suggesting that he uncovered duplicitous behavior unbecoming of such a respected office. Later in the trailer, she and Batman have a brief fight in the same area. This latest trailer is mostly atmospheric and only teases at a plot: an inciting murder, a (likely unrelated) funeral that is highjacked, unwilling suicide bombers, a public figure at an outdoor press conference, police involvement, and a motif of lies. The trailer implies he is only after certain people; one victim's face is covered in duct tape with the words âno more liesâ written on it. When we catch a glimpse of the Bat Cave, it looks like it could honestly be the exact same set from the “Batman Begins“ trilogy. As for the motive for Don Mitchell's killing, the use of "No More Lies" makes it readily apparent that Edward believes the now former mayor of Gotham to be a liar, enough that it warranted paying with his life. The Batman Who Laughs has played them for fools time after time because he knows who they are and how unwilling they are to trust anyone but themselves. 99% Upvoted. Perhaps this iteration of Batman will be on better terms with law enforcement? At a press conference held outside, perhaps after discovering Riddler’s crime, Bruce Wayne hangs back from the crowd of reporters and puts on a bike helmet. It’s not yet clear whether Jacqueline Durrand, the costume designer, should be fired like most who work with women in superhero movies besides Lindy Hemming, who was responsible for costuming “Wonder Woman” and set a new standard for the industry that was promptly ignored. Does this entire movie happen at night? It sure looks like it. The image is said to have originated on Discord, and if we take a closer look, the chair does appear to match that of director Matt Reeves tweet announcing day one of filming where “roll A 11” was used for “scene 17.” In the comics, Batman’s brand of vigilante justice sometimes puts him at odds with the police, so this points to a cooperative relationship for now.
